Word book!

I made a word book from scratch. :) I'm pretty darn pleased with it. Ignore the misspelling of "years" on that... I fixed it but don't feel like retaking the picture right now. ;)

award!

I received this award! From Olenka at lifestylesofascrapper.blogspot.com/

Thank you darlin'!

So my understanding is that I first need to list 7 of my favorite things:

1. Spending time with my family!
2. Spending time with my friends!
3. Belly dancing!
4. Scrapping!
5. Visiting Florida!
6. Other crafting hobbies: sewing, beading, anything.
7. reading and movies!

And now I am supposed to pass the award along to 7 other bloggers! This is what has held me up as I don't know many bloggers yet, and some of the ones I've been to lately already got the award! lol... So I'm going to put the numbers here and as I find a blogger to pass the award to, I will fill in the list. :)

1. Anna at legendsofascraper.blogspot.com (she does amazing work!)
2. Kimba at kimbaskreations.blogspot.com (I love her cards!)
3.
4.

Online crop

ScrapbookDreamer.com forum had an online crop this weekend. I had been looking forward all month to this weekend, as my local store, Scrapaganza, also had a crop friday night. But come saturday morning it felt like my mojo left me! But I pushed on and got the challenges for the online crop done, and even ended up with stuff I liked. ;)

The first challenge I did for the online crop was to use punches and stamps, and this is what I came up with (using a daisy punch and a journaling stamp):

The next challenge I completed was to use patchwork in the page design.

And the third challenge was a recipe style challenge using one of two words and coming up with ingredients to fit the word. Mine was:
D - "Dream"
R - Reminisce paper
E - EK Success circle cutting system
A - American Crafts thickers
M - Magic Scraps slide frame
E - Eyelets
R - Rub-on

And the last challenge I did was to alter a box. I almost didn't do that one because I did not need a decorated box and had no one to give one to. But then I came up with the idea of altering a priority mailer box into a vertical storage box for my new stuff, papers and embellies and the like. This is my favorite of all the challenges I did this weekend.

Thanks for lookin!

Another sketch inspired card

So here's another card inspired by Dawn's Inspirational Card Sketches DT call. When I started out I had not planned to use the sketch, I didn't think the bird would work with it. But turns out it did.

The card has a sentiment stamped inside for welcoming the birth of a baby, and the card and another item are a little thank you gift to someone, she's got a baby girl and I made this little layout for her to either put a picture on and frame, or she can give it as a gift to someone else if she likes.

More crafting!

Well it's been a busy day for me! I made another card from Dawn's Inspirational Card Sketch. I always thought if I were going to receive a get well card, I'd want it to be cheerful and sunny so that's what this one is to me. :)

Scrapbookdreamer.com has a wonderful ad inspiration challenge this month. It was tough to do just because I'm a stickler for "getting it right". I was pleased with how this 2 pager turned out. I captured the elements of the ad that I wanted in the LO so that's good.

I get a kick out of this photo of my son. It's so similar to a photo I have of me at that age, that same ornery look in my eyes.

Thanks for visiting!

Cold!

It's cold here! how about where you are? :)

I've been doing challenges at ScrapbookDreamer.com and this month one of them is to scrap old (pre-digi) photos. Wonderful! Since I'm still new to all this I have TONS of old photos. Here are two new layouts of old photos of mine.

Baby it's Cold Outside - photos of me in 1985 with my dad

Scarecrow - photos of me and a friend building scarecrows at our county fair for a contest. The Corn Maiden and the Corn King. We won first prize. :)

Card Sketch Inspiration!

I am submitting a card for a blog design team! :) my first design team submission ever! LOL Wish me luck!

The fabulous Dawn whom I met on Scrapbook Dreamer Forum has started a wonderful Inspirational Card Sketches blog. I have admired her wonderful cards since I joined SBD and in fact started making cards because of her and the other wonderful ladies there. I had thought I'd only ever do photo scrapping, but I have discovered the joy of making my own cards.

Dawn is looking for 6 people to be her design team on her sketch blog, so if you think you might be interested, or just want to use sketches to work on your own cards, hop on over and check out her DT call!

So, here's my offering! Check out Inspirational Card Sketches to join in the fun!

I used DCWV cardstock, Daisy D's pattern paper, Paper Studio paisley stamps, Heidi Swap sentiment stamp, Ranger embossing powder and Distress Ink in mahogany.

scrappin' is relaxin'

So, the holidays had me pretty wound up and no time to scrap. No time to scrap pretty much means mama is starting to go nuts. I definitely need some creative "me" time on a regular basis or I get wiggy. Heck, I even do better with the hubby when I can scrap regularly. ;)

So last night and today I worked on a couple layouts, between spending time with the kiddo and doing other stuff (mainly surfing the net lol). Here's what I worked on:
