Owl Birthday Card and Summer Folio

A super simple card that I did for my son's BFF (the babysitter's boy).  I combined challenges again (I don't have time to not combine unfortunately!).  I am submitting this for Inspirational Card Sketches and for BITTEN by the BUG.  This was done on my cricut, with the Wild Card cartridge using "What a Hoot" line papers from Pinecone Press.

I've been working on this folio all week. I took the folio base from a kit I got at my LSS Scrapaganza and used papers from the 3 Bugs in a Rug Snips & Snails line that I got from Scrapbook Dreamer.  I did the folio to fit a couple challenges over at the Scrapbook Dreamer Forum.

Download Gypsy cut files

Here you will find all the .gypsy cut files that I have available for download!

Please feel free to use them for personal use. Don't offer them for sale or anything, though I don't care if you make craft items to sell with these files, because, quite frankly you could make these yourself anyway. :)  If you make a really cool project, drop me a comment so I can come see!

First up, my favorite creations, my iron fences. The picture below gives you a preview of each fence and there is a matching gate .gypsy file to go with it if you want that too.

Lotus .cut

This is my last .cut file post of the day. lol...

These Lotus flowers were created for a couple projects. I used the top ones for my Lotus Card, and the large bottom one for a layout, layered. This .cut uses Home Accents Solutions cart.

Enjoy!

Lacy Heart "paper" .cut

Here's another .cut file, again using Storybook.

I love those lacy papers that are so darned expensive! lol... I made this heart one for a wedding layout but you can use it for other things!

Enjoy!

Double marquee .cut

I am flooding my blog with .cut files. :)

I used this one for a layout. I love these shapes. This uses Storybook.

Scalloped Square with holes

I love the large shaped papers you can buy. But sometimes I want those shapes on other papers and sometimes I just don't want to pay that little extra that shaped papers cost, especially when they aren't exactly the right paper...

I also love my Threading Water border punch. But sometimes I want the scallops to be bigger...

So, using my DS software and Storybook cart, I made this shape. It's one of my favorites to buy. Please feel free to download it!

Bee Well

I kind of like this card. I wasn't sure as I was making it just how it would turn out, but I like it.

I used this week's sketch over at Dawn's Inspirational Card Sketches blog. Check it out!

And the Cricut challenge over at BITTEN by the BUG got me motivated as I love to use my cricut. The challenge was to use the cartridge Walk in my Garden, Card2 and Envelope2... but the envelope had to have yellow... solid or print.

This card is totally not what I had started out doing but you know how that is... you start cutting... start thinking... and stuff changes midway through! LOL

A day out with Thomas

We (me, Kevin and Grandma) went to see Thomas the Tank Engine in Union, IL today. It was a good day in spite of Kevin and I both having a cold and he was not at his best. But I have to say that any child would be hard pressed to behave angelicly in the crowd and the heat and all the stimuli. Given all that, Kevin WAS an angel, since the poor thing had a cough and a stuffy nose. But we had tickets (no refunds) and he didn't seem too bad this morning.

A few pics of the fun day!

A moment of grumpiness (waiting in line for our Thomas ride). This is also Grandma... it was a grandma day as she bought the tickets so she got to be in all the pics. ;)

cooling off out of the hot sun!

It was a good day, but the munchkin is already asleep in bed (by 7:15pm) and his poor little nose is stuffed up even more. :(

Book of Me

Here are a couple pages I've made to add to my book of me.

This first one was made for a challenge over at The Story Matters, as well as for a few challenges at Scrapbook Dreamer. It was a fun page to make, as I rarely make a page that doesn't have at least one photo on it, and I just played with this. I made a favorites page last fall so I may end up doing a favorites page every year, since my favorites seem to change. ;)

The layout below was done with my local store's kit club and I also did it for a few challenges over at Scrapbook Dreamer. These are old pics! I had made a tiny little sand castle after my mom and I found a huge castle someone made. Obviously mine is substandard. lol

fun layout and sketch

This layout was done for a challenge over at Scrap The Boys and a couple challenges at Scrapbook Dreamer.

I've been experimenting with doing my own sketches. I've done a few on scratch paper but now I've done two on my computer. Doing a sketch as I plan a layout has sure sped up my planning and assembly time, at least for the ones I use sketches for (my own or other sketches).

Here's the sketch I did last night. If it inspires you, feel free to use it but I'd sure love to see what you do with it if you do use it, so please let me see!

And here's the layout I did with the sketch.

Snow Card

Woo, I squeezed THREE challenges out of this one card! I created this "Snow" card for the Accent Essentials snowflake cut challenge over at Bitten by the Bug, and for the card sketch challenge #28 at Inspirational Card Sketches, and for the round card challenge over at Scrapbook Dreamer.

How's that for getting the max out of it? lol

I used the cricut Wild Card cartridge to cut the card and the envelope as well, and the papers on the envie and card match. I just wish the sparkle on the flakes showed better. I used Martha Stewart 'Crystal Fine' glitter on chipboard that I cut with Accent Essentials cut #13, the snowflake. The chipboard is fairly thin but I still had to multicut 3 times. I also inked the chipboard white with colorbox liquid chalks. I used Glossy Accents to adhere the glitter.

Best of Show!

So I entered scrapbook layouts into our county fair and today was judging day. I have never entered anything in the fair before, and since I've only been scrapping since September 2008, I was a little nervous!

I entered 5 out of 6 categories. I placed in all of them! I couldn't believe it! But what really shocked me (in a good way!) is that one of my layouts took Best of Show! Wow!!!

Here's a picture of Kim Garner judging, who is on the DT for my local scrappy store, Scrapaganza and also on the DT for Rusty Pickle.

Here is my "beginner's category" entry. This is the one that took best of show.

This was my entry for the "paper manipulation" category. It took a first ribbon.

My entry in the "purchased elements" category got a second place ribbon.

And my entries in the "memorabilia" and "mixed media" categories got third place ribbons. I really didn't expect to place with these two layouts at all, so that was a surprise! In fact, all I hoped for at all was to get one ribbon, any place, and I'd have been happy. What a wonderful boost to find out all my pages took ribbons!
