ICS #16

Oooh, I had fun making this card. I like fussy cutting a lot, and I LOVE BG's Marrakech line. And I can never go wrong with Dawn's sketches over at Inspirational Card Sketches. Here's my take on this week's sketch #16.

Funky Flowers

Back in April I took a couple classes with Wendy Vecchi, an AWESOME artist. She has her own line of stamps, Studio 490, and designs for Maya Road, Tim Holtz and is a Ranger certified educator! I love her work and since I took the classes, I have tried to practice what I learned. I'm no where near the creative goddess Wendy is, but I'm sure having fun exploring the techniques I learned from her.

My first projects that I did on my own and not at her class was to make 5 ATC's using the funky flower techniques I learned from Wendy. Of course, I did not yet own any Studio490 stamps and I had to use the scraps of grungeboard and grungepaper left over from her class, but I still did them! I also used Tim Holtz Fragments, which Wendy also taught us about. These ATC cards were made for a swap over at Scrapbook Dreamer.

Just tonight I made a birthday card for a DT Call over at Inspirational Card Sketches. I love the flowers I made but I'm still not sure about the card as a whole, but hey, it's all about the journey of learning right? :) Anyway, someone is getting a big fat birthday card in the mail sometime soon. LOL

I have more projects in mind! So I hope to be posting them soon.

ICS #15 and a Mom layout

Well here's my sketch for Dawn's Inspirational Card Sketches, #15. AWESOME sketch, loved working with it.

I love making cards with scraps.

And since I am the Guest Design Team member over at Scrapbook Dreamer, I needed to do a layout for my challenge over there. I'd challenged everyone to do a heritage layout, and this is my example. Prior to this challenge, I'd never scrapped pictures older than myself. and actually this photo was scanned and printed off for this LO as I wanted a bigger photo than the original. Papers are DCWV, pearl bling is Prima, ribbon flowers are Maya Road. My mom wasn't too keen on the photo when I asked her to date it for me. haha! I hope she likes what I did with it!

ICS #13 card sketch

Here's a card I made for Dawn's Inspirational Card Sketch site! I changed it up a lot, due to using up scraps at hand. lol

thanks for the challenge Dawn!

Marks Paper Co.

There's a new paper company in town! Marks Paper Co. advertises that their paper looks like fabric, feels like paper. And they are right! The two lines the released first or lovely. Check these out! (see them even better at the Marks site, and sign up for the newsletter)

There is a challenge at the Marks site, so I created this layout with the first line of papers, which I absolutely LOVE.

In addition to the Marks August line of papers, I also used WeRMemoryKeepers metal letters (Thanks Penny!!!), 3-D foam dots and a zig pen.

Wow!

So I have fabulous news!

First, I won the March Contest at Scrapbook Dreamer! I get to be Guest Design Team in the month of May!!! I'm so excited, I've wanted to be GDT for ages. lol

Then! I had submitted some layouts to Scrapbook News and Review, and they accepted them for publication! WOW! My first publishing! I'm so thrilled and honored at both these. I'm sort of sad I can't show what layouts are being published, so you'll just have to go over to SNR and see for yourself. LOL
