Skulls, Yule and extra

Skullz

We made little felt skulls that Halloween inspired by sugar skulls as a homeschool craft. Kevin preferred to color his with markers, and I embroidered one with floss, after I sewed them into a little pillow.

We used them to decorate our little shrine to our loved ones who have passed away. No cricut but I did use a skull button from Charlenes Buttons.

This came as a quick kit that I got for a couple dollars in a garage sale. I threw it together, certain I'd immediately find pictures for it. It's been 2 years, still looking for pictures LOL

I should look through my pro wedding pics... that's all that's left of my wedding to scrap.

Yule

Typical holiday layout! lol  The kid opening presents.
The tree is cricut, though I may have glued the cut tree on the cardstock and cut around it so that it would be matted. The flower spray is from a flower swap I did with some ladies.

Catching up!

I have scrapped a lot since June of 2014 so I have a lot of catching up to do. LOL 

Birthday Bash

Shortly after making this layout, I decided to purge my paper flower stash. So this set of pages was made with the intent of using up a bunch that I had.  This is still during the time period where I was also adding a Charlene-handmade button to every page. :)

Coral Reef

Our museum had an exhibit of a community made knit/crochet coral reef. It was pretty darned amazing work. The museum tied it in with "clean waters" and the Mississippi. I used cricut cut images and title to embellish this layout.

County Fair

Not a lot special about this. I didn't feel the need to heavily embellish since the paper already came with the ferris wheel on it.

Pick of the Patch

Hello everybody!

So every once in a while I allow myself the treat of getting new printed papers, if I just can't resist them. I'm trying to use stash only but now and then one just HAS to try some new stuff. ;)  In this case, this Echo Park mini collection was given to me free, so what was I to do? say no? lol
Pretty much everything on the page is from that kit, though I did cut the title on my cricut, from the Mini Monsters cartridge. Oh, and I cut a huge oak leaf as a background in the middle, if you can tell that's a leaf since it's covered up. LOL  There also happens to be a pumpkin button from Charlene's Button Box. :)

Lorado

Hello hello!

Here's a layout I did with stash from We R Memory Keepers. :)  The die cut background, camera, tag, and chevron border strip are all from my cricut. The camera and chevron strip are from one of the newer iron-on cartridges... Boho or Brooklyn... or maybe CTMH Artbooking... can't remember which. (this is what happens when you have too many cartridges) And the chevrons are actually several that I adhered together to make one long strip. Some chipboard letters for the title and date. Ribbon and a turkey shaped button from Charlene's Button Box. I had lots of pictures I wanted to inlcude so I made a flipper book for them.

The pics are from one of my favorite crop retreats! Love this crop.

Science Museum

Greetings!

Here's a page I made quite a while back in 2013, I totally forgot to post it.  I made this with Echo Park papers and stickers, along with a few brads and a felt border from my stash.  I included a button from Charlene's Button box as well.  The die cut on the left is something I created on my gypsy and cut on my cricut.

The pictures are from one of our visits to my mom in Oklahoma, at the Oklahoma Science Museum. My son loves that museum, and I admit it's pretty darn fun. ;)

A Big Deal

Old printed paper! Using my stash! lol
I used 3 different edge punches to punch my layered borders. All 3 had a similar design which makes the repeated punched pattern interesting. Everything else; alphas, rub-on, flower and bird button from Charlene's Button Box, are also from my old stash stuff. :)

The photo is from one of my first big crops, one held by the scrapbook store I later worked for. The theme was "I'm kind of a big deal". That store put on super awesome crops and I miss them! ah well. I least I could scrapbook it! lol

another untitled...

Greetings!

Here's another untitled layout. I received the printed papers and ribbon as part of a goodie bag from a crop. Rather than putting it in my stash and forgetting about it for months/years, I decided to use it right away. The stuff was in my crop box but I didn't have pictures with me to use so I just went ahead with an idea I had.  I got my idea from the Cricut Circle message board, a challenge to use a pattern that I really love. I am TOTALLY  in love with wood grain patterns! I have stamps, embossing folders, misting stencils... and now the Artbooking cartridge has wood grain cuts on it. So I used the square wood grain cut and cut it so that I could have it on both sides of the die cut.

Lots of ribbon came with the papers, so I layered the tulle and brown and aqua ribbons across the pages, then added a flower spray I received in a swap. The final touch of a few handmade buttons from Charlene's Button Box and done! :)  Now to find photos and add a title and journaling.

untitled so far

Hello my crafty visitors! :)

So, I really have been trying to use only stash. However, I bought these Fancy Pants papers about a month and a half ago so I guess technically they are new. ;)  I did use some other stuff that IS old stash... some Maya Road kraft doily embelllishements, so stick pins, some buttons, and a couple Charlene's Button Box handmade buttons in flower shapes. The doilies on the doily print paper are the exact same doily as the paper doily I had in my stash, which I colored with Scattered Straw Distress Stain.

I had the papers in my workbox that went with me to crop yesterday, but I didn't have any pics chosen to go with them. However, I loved the papers so much that I made a layout anyway, hence why this doesn't have a title yet since I don't know what pics will go with it. ;)

Almost Time

Hello!

Here's another use your stash layout! The background paper is from Kaiser, and I used all sorts of embellishments from my stash. Chipboard swirl, a transluscent clock (I think from Maya Road?), bling brads from BoBunny, glittered chip bird I think from K&Co, some ephemera that is possibly from 7gypsies, a felt scallop border, a doily, a heart button from Charlene's Button Box...

The picture is from a little over a week before I gave birth, so it's perhaps the only pic of me at my preggo hugeness. LOL  Normally I'm not fond of the one-photo layouts but sometimes that's all you have! Work with what you got, right?

planetarium

Hi hi.
Here's another layout with the Mamarazzi 2 line made at the Lorado crop earlier this month.

My kid found out from his friend that our local planetarium was having an 'open house' that night, and I told him I wasn't sure we'd go, since I was feeling kind of tired that day. He went off and drew a picture of stars, planets and a telescope and told me "mom! this is how much I want to go!"  How can a mom resist that??? So we went. Of course you can't take pictures inside the planetarium or inside the telescope observatory that we visited (we saw saturn's rings). But there was also a geology museum that I did take pictures in.

I used mostly Mamarazzi 2 stash, but there's also a couple buttons from Charlene's Button Box, and a cricut cut dinosaur bone fossil from Dinosaur Tracks cartridge. I really love the colors of Mamarazzi 2.  I didn't use up all the collection yet, so I hope to finish using it up at the next crop I go to.

First Tooth

Hello hello!

Here's another layout done at the Lorado crop. This one was also made with Mamarazzi 2.

I think the photos are self-explanatory. LOL

I used more polaroid frames cut from Brooklyn. Unfortunately I don't remember what cartridge I got the "first tooth" cut from! But that little white tooth also came from the same place.  I also used a button from Charlene's Button Box.  The rest is all Mamarazzi stash!

Cockatoo

Hi all!

Here's the next installment of Lorado crop pages. :)

The next paper collection I pulled out to work with is the Mamarazzi 2 collection from Bo Bunny. I LOVED the first Mamarazzi.  So of course I bought all the papers from this line months ago when it came out. I know... I'm supposed to be using stash, but every once in a while I need to buy something really cool.

One of my coworkers brought one of her rehab Cockatoos into the bus lot, and she was really a sweet bird!

The arrows were made with a leftover cut negative that I saved after cutting out arrows for a different layout. I used Distress Stain to ink in the arrows. The arrows are from the Boho cricut cartridge. I also cut out a polaroid frame from the Brooklyn cartridge. Other than a button made by Charlene's Button Box, a Kaiser filmstrip rub on, everything else is from the Mamarazzi line.

I don't know about most other people but when I go to a crop, sometimes I have trouble getting started. To solve that problem I sometimes take a kit that someone else designed, or in the case of last weekend's Lorado crop, I had a couple layouts that I had started but never finished for whatever reason.  This is one of those unfinished layouts. I had everything done but the photo and embellishments. I think I put it away because I didn't know how to finish it! But when I pulled it out last weekend, it went together in a snap. I used stash for everything!

1984

1984... no, not the book by Orwell! :)
It was the year I graduated from High School, and the year I joined the Air Force.
It's now also the first year which has no photos (that I know of) left in my photo stash to scrapbook!

Before I began working on a layout, I was hunting through my photos looking for something to scrap, and I realized that the tab for "1984" was nearly empty. I'd scrapped almost everything! So I decided to do an "overview" layout and finish that year up! So this layout is the result.

I used stash, Echo Park papers and brads, and some other stuff including a Charlene's Button Box button. The shape on the right was cut with the Cricut cartridge Elegant Edges. This particular shape is very much like the outer edge of the We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 punch named "Vine Bracket". I like punches but I can't justify the expense these days with our tighter budget. So it was nice to stumble on a cut that can be used instead of the punch.... at any size I like!

Hello all!
 You know how certain iconic items become all the rage? I've seen things like those old rotary fans, coffee stain stamps and more. Lately I've seen the viewmaster disks around. What memories those bring back!

Just recently someone on the Cricut message board asked me where I get my ideas for layouts. I get inspiration from everywhere, but I have no problem scraplifting! Especially if I want to experiment in a style of crafting that I'm not used to doing... as is the case with this layout... I am never quite comfortable doing layouts like this... But I like how it turned out. Sometimes I just see one little thing somewhere that inspires, sometimes the whole layout inspires me. In the latter case, I often translate someone's layout into a "sketch" and go from there, using my own supplies to re-interpret the "sketch". Today's layout is definitely scraplifted! It was her viewmaster disk that caught my eye at first, but then I fell in love with the whole layout. To see my inspiration, click here.

However I did not have any viewmaster disk embellishments. So I had to create one! That meant a little research. It turned out that Capadia had made a tutorial for a cut file for a different machine. I was able to translate that to my gypsy and created my own viewmaster disk cut file for my cricut on my gypsy. You can download the Gypsy viewmaster disk file from Box.com by clicking here.

The gypsy file includes the disk in two sizes, the smaller one is based on measurements I found for the disks... close but not quite exact I am sure. The larger one was the size I wanted for my layout. The images are grouped separately so you can move them or resize them as you please. On the second layer is a blackout version of the disk, in case you want a black background for the photo holes, as I did in this layout.

By the way, this layout was made entirely with stash that I've had from 4 months to 4 years. :)  I dug out several things I'd made ages ago and stored away (grungepaper flowers, UTEE'd heart).

Simple Joys ... my dancers

Hello all!
Here's another layout for my "use your stash!" challenge. I used a line of BoBunny papers.

These photos are from a group shot of me and my dancers at one of our performances. After the show, we "crashed" another dancer's birthday party and danced for her too. :)

I purposely did not take my cricut with me to the crop that I did this layout at, so that I would use more stuff from my stash. I ended up using one of the flower sprays from the flower spray swap that I participated in a while back. I wasn't digging any of the letter stickers I had so as I was looking through my stash I came across this "simple joys" embellishment that I had made when I first got my Cricut Imagine a couple years ago. The colors went well and though it wasn't quite the title I was looking for, back in the day that I took these pictures, my life was constantly about belly dance... so it was simply a joy for me... so I made it work for my title. ;)  And of course I used a Charlene's Button Box butterfly button.

missing dad

Hi scrappy friends!
Here's the last layout I've made with the BoBunny line that I've been working with.  So this is a "use your stash!" page. :)

These are the second to last pictures taken of my dad before he passed away...

I used a cricut to cut the scallop oval shape, but I can't remember exactly which cartridge it came from. There's another yellow oval there, and it is a crocheted oval that someone was making for Scrapaganza back when it was open. It's been in my stash for a while so I thought I'd try using it. I've also used some white flourishes, some off white little flowers, and I punched some circles from scraps and folded them in the dahlia fold to make "flowers".  There are also a few random brads, a Charlene's Button Box leaf button, and a strip of ribbon. :)

Hi everyone!
Here's another layout using only my stash!!!  I used Echo Park's For The Record 2 paper pack.

The photo is one I took on my bus, I thought the clouds were neat looking in the cross-over mirror. :)

I scraplifted this design from erinbassett.com, her layout was a pumpkin patch layout. :)

The only cricut is the yellow paper the picture is on, and the diamond print border which is cut from Elegant Edges.

Most of the embellishments come from the stickers in the paper pack. There's a Charlene's Button Box button in there. :) There are some chipboard gears from Maya Road I believe, that I used some mist on. There are some brads left over from another line of BoBunny papers. I also used another mist-able camera that I think comes from Studio Calico. I didn't realize it till this layout that those little camera parts can be separated so they can be colored differently. So I used black mist on the camera body and "Brushed Pewter" Distress stain on the other parts. Instead of spraying the mist on the camera or the gears, I unscrewed the cap and just let drops fall from the little hose... that made the ink easier to control and made less of a mess.

Here's another "use your stash!" layout, done with Bo Bunny papers (same line as "this kid" from a few days ago).

I didn't use my cricut at all on this one. The scalloped circle "flower" thing is something I had in my stash from a class I taught at Scrapaganza years ago! Ribbon, bling and Charlene's Button Box owl button all from stash. :)  This page went together super fast compared to most pages! lol

Hello all!

Here's a layout I finished recently, using stash only! Some Bo Bunny I had, no idea how long I've had it! lol

I scraplifted the design... thank goodness she "watermarked" her picture of her page so I can give her credit! Aymee is a lovely scrapper! I am trying to remember to watermark my images but I often forget.

So back to the page... the banners around the outer edge were just cut on my paper trimmer, embossed with a swiss dot embossing folder, hand cut the ends and inked the edges and gently ran the ink pad over the embossing.

The cat is cut from the Cricut cartridge Create-a-Critter... I think around 2.5 inches. There's a little handmade button from Charlene's button Box there too. :)
