Finding the Perfect Pumpkin

Greetings all!

Here's a cricut-y page I made last year. I used We R Memory Keepers papers for it. Let's see if I can remember some of the sources for the cricut cuts...  the sign came from Campin Critters cartridge, I used my gypsy to add the words to cut out of the signs, and cut two signs (one flipped) and glued them together. I tried welding them together but for some reason that did not work. I cut two more signs out of the light color to put behind the brown.  The horse is from Create a Critter (of course!).  The fence I think came from Everyday Pop-up Cards, though I am pretty sure I stretched it taller on my gypsy.  The pumpkins came from Pumpkin Carving I think. However, that cartridge doesn't have layers so I probably cut two sets, one in orange, one  in green, and made my own layers. I think I also drew lines with a fine pen. I don't remember at all where the leaves came from! There are so many to be found on cartridges.  This is one I really had fun making! ;)

Hello all!

Here's a layout I finished recently, using stash only! Some Bo Bunny I had, no idea how long I've had it! lol

I scraplifted the design... thank goodness she "watermarked" her picture of her page so I can give her credit! Aymee is a lovely scrapper! I am trying to remember to watermark my images but I often forget.

So back to the page... the banners around the outer edge were just cut on my paper trimmer, embossed with a swiss dot embossing folder, hand cut the ends and inked the edges and gently ran the ink pad over the embossing.

The cat is cut from the Cricut cartridge Create-a-Critter... I think around 2.5 inches. There's a little handmade button from Charlene's button Box there too. :)

Nuts About You

Hello all! Today was my turn to share a project on the Cricut FANatics Blog! This is the project I have posted there. If you haven't been by that blog, you really should go! It's a WEALTH of project ideas and inspiration!!!

I have a few friends that have asked me to create kits for them, and this is one that I finished up not too long ago. I really like how this one turned out.

I loved the title, but I worried that the words might get lost on the busy background paper, and there was no shadow option for it. But, you don't always have to use a shadow of the shape, all you need is something to set it off... and I thought two acorns welded together as a background for the title was perfect. In fact, I liked it more because it was different from the usual phrase shadow.

"Cutesy" pages like this can seem more "grown up" after inking the edges of everything with dark brown ink. I found this out when one friend, who'd seen these pages in their initial stages before ink, and then saw it later when it was completely done... She didn't want a kit at first, it was too cutesy for her. But the inking changed her mind completely.

The ribbon is seam binding that I had dyed using Distress Stain in Fired Brick color. I laid down a strip of tacky tape adhesive, then as I laid down the ribbon, I pinched pleats in it. This gives the layout texture and dimension, more than even pop dots can!

Ladybug Basket

Isn't this adorable! It's not my original idea, I found something similar on a blog (who's location I cannot find now) and I just took a few extra steps with it to make it the way I wanted.

This was the project for Scrappaganza's Day of Creativity! The lady bug is cut from the cricut cartridge Create a Critter. I made a little box inside and the handle was punched with the Bubbles punch-around-the-page punch. The flowers are felt and were cut on the Sizzix with the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die.

Parisian Anthology #3

Hello again! Here's my 4th page with the Scrappinista Scrapbook Club kit from the store I work at, Scrapaganza!
For this page, I used a piece of taupe cardstock as a background, then cut down a piece of the printed paper. I misted the paper with Meadow Green and Red Velvet glimmermist and wiped off the excess to reveal the paper's embossing.  Then I adhered the paper to the background cardstock, then sewed it down for that extra touch. By the way, both cardstock and printed paper were edge distressed before getting sewn.
Then I used my Cricut and Gypsy to cut out a tree from Create a Critter cartridge but I used the Gypsy to stretch it taller without making it wider. I cut the tree out of acetate packaging (recycled from a cartridge clamshell, cut at depth 6, pressure 5, multicut 2). I used the negative of the tree as a mask, but what I did to make it work was put my background stamp on the table, stamp side up. Got it inked up. Then I put the mask over the stamp and then the paper on top and pressed the paper down on the stamp. I did this because the acetate is thick enough that pressing the stamp down on the mask and paper did not leave a stamped image so I had to flip them over to get the image.
Now, because I did not practice this in advance, I ended up messing up my paper. However, there are no mistakes, only creative opportunities! So rather than pitch out the whole thing, I tried to think up a way to hide the mess up, which was that some ink had gotten smeared around the tree that I had stamped.  So, I got that acetate tree that I had cut out (remember, I'd used the negative) and I put the actual cut out tree over the stamped background that I like to mask it, then took a silver paint dauber that I'd only squeezed a very little paint into, and painted some silver very lightly around the tree mask, radiating out from the tree. When I took the mask away, it left the tree image looking as if it were glowing in silver radiance... hence how I came up with the title "tree magic"

The little bit of silver paint covered up the ink smudging and I really liked the effect. So, there's a lesson here! Don't give up if you make a mistake. :)
I also used Artisan Element borders on the left, they had been sprayed with Red Velvet, Walnut Gold and Graphite glimmermist and carefully wiped off so that the only glimmermist left had remained in the debossed patterns. I did the same with the parenthesis framing the journaling.
The Flair flower I colored red with red alcohol ink so it would look like a poinsettia. I glued that on top of a pleated "flower" made with Tim Holtz tissue tape, which is layered over a "doily" that I cut from another sheet of the printed paper. Glued to the center of the poinsettia flower are two jingle bells I found in my jewelry making stash. I love raiding that stash for scrapping. lol The title is in American Crafts Thickers.
Shortly after I took this picture, I added tiny Artisan Element stars to the tree. I decided not to take another picture, so you'll just have to imagine them there! :)
