 Inspirational Card Sketch #35

Ok, I pondered the sketch for a while, and when I ordered my gypsy on tuesday, I decided to wait to do my card for this sketch for the gypsy to arrive and I would do a cricut cut card. So I looked through my cartridges and saw this little house card on the Wild Card cartridge and fell in love!  Since I really need to work on my holiday cards I decided I'd make this one a winter holiday card. And last night at my LSS I found Basic Grey's new Eskimo Kisses line and knew that was the paper to use.

This is perhaps THE most intricate card I have ever done. Nearly all of it was cut on the cricut, using my gypsy to design the pieces. I had not a single problem doing it. In fact, it was easier than I expected and only slightly time consuming. I did hand cut a few things that I found to be easier to just cut myself. But for the most part, it's all cricut.  Oh and the picture doesn't show it, but the door window actually has some acetate in there like a real window. I wished that I had thought of it in time to do that with the round window. lol... oh well.  Also used some bling and stickles for detail touches. Thanks for looking!

Q & A

Some folks have asked me what cartridges I used for the Fall bouquet that I made (the post below). I should have said in that post, sorry! I used Walk in my Garden, Accent Essentials and Stretch Your Imagination. The cardstock is all colored cardstock I had on hand. I used glitter for the centers except for the sunflowers, which I used black stickles for.

Gypsy!!! and Fall Flowers

I got my Gypsy today! Woot!  I plan much creating, everywhere and all the time!

I decided I needed something cheerful at my desk at work. Flowers are always cheerful, at least till they wilt. Well I didn't want to pay for flowers that would be gone in a few days, and I'd seen a cute project on the cricut boards and decided to lift the idea. I have no idea who it was that posted the flowers, I can't find the post now, but it was her sunflowers that really caught my eye. Anyway, here is my version of the fall flowers she'd done.  It looks great on my desk!

I got picked!

I am on a design team!!! Starting October. :) Woo hoo! Inspirational Card Sketches had a design team call, and I have loved Dawn's sketches since she started that challenge blog. I have missed submitting a lot of weeks but I always check it every week and add her sketch to my "to-do" list for the week. (Seriously, my to-do list is more organized than I can ever actually be... I print a new list every week with pics of the challenges!)

Well every call ICS has had, I have tried out. I finally got chosen! And you know, I didn't have a lot of faith in my card so I didn't look at my "competition" till after I got the email from Dawn. There were some seriously stunning cards out there that weren't chosen, so I am shocked and honored that I was picked!  I've gotten a peek at the upcoming sketches and I'm thrilled, they are very inspiring!

If you are one of the ones that didn't get picked this time, keep trying out!

Supplies I used include Fancy Pants papers, American Crafts Thickers, Martha Stewart border punch, Tim Holtz grungepaper, grungeboard, distress inks, Tiny Attacher, snap. Stamps are from Studio 490 and Close to my Heart.

The big sunflower was made using the Funky Flowers technique as taught by Wendy Vecchi. The stamped circles on the left were stamped on transparency I pulled from my trash can, with Stazon ink.

Yay me!

Wow! I've had a great start to this month!

I won the August contest over at Scrapbook Dreamer. I will be the Guest Design Team member there in October (I love october!). If you haven't been to Scrapbook Dreamer, you should go there! Fabulous message board and a wonderful store! And check out the yummy gallery. The art there is just stunning. I am so honored to be a part of that place.

One of my new favorite blogs also chose me as their August winner! Scrap the Boys has a monthly challenge for scrapping your boys, and I won with my Salsa Stir Fry layout. I get to be their October Guest Spotlight! I love that blog, I love all the ideas there. Sometimes it is challenging scrapping my son and hubby but with great sites like Scrap the Boys, I will never lack for ideas.

And just to top off my wonderful September beginning, I won some blog candy! lol!  BITTEN by the BUG has a monthly blog hop and I won one of the hop's blog candies. A package of cute pumpkin name holders which I think I'll take to work and use as photo holders, a set of mini fall cookie cutters and some bling! Woot! I thought I'd never win blog candy at such a huge blog, but that just goes to show me, always try!

ICSketches DT call

My favorite card sketch challenge blog site is having the quarterly design team call! Here is the sketch for the call:

 

And here is my card for the call. I tried out my new Perfect Pearls powder for this card, first time! I love the look and I think I need to do another card (hmmm can we do two cards for the DT call?)  because after doing this one I have another idea! LOL... anyway, love working with the perfect pearls. Very easy, and only a little bit messy. (don't have a fan running while working with perfect pearls LOL!!!)

I also used Glossy Accents to accent the designs with a dimensional wet look that I like.
